Angelina Jolie has shared that she and her children have not returned to the French winery Château Miraval since her separation from Brad Pitt. In new court documents filed on October 6, Jolie said the property holds painful memories tied to their divorce, and she has stayed away ever since.
Jolie, 50, explained that after their split, she gave Pitt full control and residency of their homes in Los Angeles and at Miraval without asking for money. She hoped this would help calm tensions during a difficult time. “To this day, the children and I have never again set foot on the property,” she wrote. “It was especially difficult for the children to have their lives so disrupted.”
The couple, who share six children — Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Vivienne and Knox — separated in 2016 and finalized their divorce in December 2024. However, a legal battle over the winery continues. Pitt sued Jolie in 2022, claiming she sold her share of the business without his approval. Jolie responded with a countersuit, saying Pitt had been “waging a vindictive war” against her since the divorce.
Jolie described Miraval as a special place in their family’s life. “We were married there, I spent part of my pregnancy there, and I brought our twin children home from the hospital there,” she said. Losing that connection was deeply painful.
Her legal team also claimed Pitt refused to buy her out of the winery unless she signed a non-disclosure agreement that would silence her about past abuse. Jolie referred to a 2016 private jet incident where Pitt allegedly acted aggressively toward her and their children. Authorities did not charge Pitt, and Jolie chose not to press charges.
Sources close to both stars have commented on the ongoing dispute. A source close to Jolie said she hopes Pitt will “move on” so the family can find peace. Meanwhile, a source close to Pitt said Jolie’s actions have caused “tremendous collateral damage.”
