From Scandal to Celebration: Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes Announce Their Engagement

In a heartfelt and humorous reveal, former GMA3 co-anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes announced their engagement on the October 14 episode of their podcast, Amy & T.J.. The couple, whose relationship first made headlines in late 2022, shared that they’ve been engaged for about a month and chose to break the news themselves before it leaked elsewhere.

“We are sharing with all of you that we are engaged,” Robach told listeners. Holmes added, “We’ve learned that lesson, I guess, in the past about our relationship,” referring to the media frenzy that followed their initial romance reveal.

The Secret Ring and Missed Clues

Robach revealed she had been wearing her engagement ring “proudly” for weeks—even in massive football stadiums—but no one noticed. Holmes joked that she had been “dangling a ring in everybody’s face,” yet not a single person asked about it.

“I kept waiting for somebody to point it out or ask me, ‘Hey, what’s that?’ And it never happened,” Robach said. She even considered posting a photo on social media but held back when Holmes pointed out the ring’s visibility in the shot.

A Relationship That Survived the Spotlight

Robach and Holmes first sparked dating rumors in November 2022 while still co-hosting GMA3: What You Need to Know. At the time, Robach was married to actor Andrew Shue, and Holmes was married to attorney Marilee Fiebig. Though their romance was controversial, sources confirmed there was no overlap between their relationship and their previous marriages.

After divorcing their respective partners, the couple moved in together and began sharing their journey on their podcast. Robach, who was also previously married to Tim McIntosh and shares two daughters—Ava and Annalise—has spoken openly about her vision for a third wedding.

Wedding Plans: Eloping or Elvis?

On a February 2024 podcast episode, Robach shared that she’d prefer a small, intimate wedding. “Justice of the peace. Vegas,” she said. Holmes joked, “I thought only Elvis did them,” to which Robach replied, “I would absolutely run off and elope somewhere… probably Fiji or somewhere really nice and far away”.

According to insiders, the couple is planning a “small and intimate” celebration with fewer than 100 guests, aiming for a wedding sometime in 2026.

A New Chapter Begins

Despite the rocky start and public scrutiny, Robach and Holmes have built a strong bond. Their engagement marks a new chapter in their relationship—one they’re choosing to celebrate privately before sharing with the world.

As Holmes put it, “We were intimately engaged with friends… All of them are gonna think back and go, ‘Oh my god, how did we miss it?’”
