Taylor Swift’s Upcoming Eras Tour Documentary Promises Raw Emotion and Behind-the-Scenes Truths

Taylor Swift is working on a powerful new documentary that will chronicle the highs and heartbreaks of her record-breaking Eras Tour. With 149 shows across the globe, the film will offer fans an unfiltered look at the scale, emotion, and personal challenges behind one of the most ambitious tours in music history.

Filming has been quietly underway since 2023, with several UK shows — including eight sold-out nights at Wembley Stadium — captured for the project. More than 700,000 fans attended those London dates, and the footage is expected to showcase both the electrifying performances and the intimate moments backstage.

But this isn’t just a celebration of Swift’s success. The documentary will also address difficult events that occurred during the tour, including the tragic knife attack at a Taylor-themed kids’ club in Southport and the foiled terror plot that led to the cancellation of three shows in Vienna. Insiders say Swift won’t shy away from these moments, making the film a “warts-and-all” portrait of life on the road.

The documentary will also explore the creation of Swift’s 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which debuted at No. 1 in April 2024. The album followed her breakup with actor Joe Alwyn and her brief romance with The 1975’s Matty Healy — both of whom were lyrically dissected in the record. NFL star Travis Kelce, Swift’s current partner, will also appear in the film, including his surprise cameo during her Wembley performance in June.

Following the success of her 2020 Netflix documentary Miss Americana, which offered a glimpse into her personal and political awakening, this new project promises to be even more emotionally revealing. It’s expected to premiere sometime in 2026, after Swift wraps the final leg of her tour in Canada this December — and hopefully enjoys a well-earned break.
