You Miss How It Felt, Not Who They Are Now

Missing someone can feel very confusing, especially when you know deep down that they were not right for you anymore. You find yourself thinking about them at random times, remembering small moments that once made you feel happy, safe, or important.

It’s not always about the person they are now, but about how things used to feel in the beginning, when everything was easy, natural, and full of attention. Your mind keeps going back to those memories because they felt real and meaningful, and for a moment, you forget everything that came after that slowly started to hurt you.

“You miss the feeling, not the person they became.”

This is why letting go becomes so difficult. You’re not just trying to move on from a person, you’re trying to move on from an experience that once made you feel something special. You hold onto the version of them that cared more, tried more, and made you feel like you mattered.

But the truth is, that version of them is not who they are anymore, and holding onto it only keeps you stuck in something that no longer exists in reality. It creates a gap between what you remember and what actually is.

If you look at things honestly, you will realize that the person you miss and the person they are now are not the same. And accepting that truth is painful, but it is also the first step toward letting go and choosing something that feels real, not just remembered.
